The State of Queensland
The State of Queensland Map
The State of Queensland map has been hand-drawn in red and black inks over 65 hours. Out of all the maps this one is unique in that the state's geographic make-up is so diverse! From the lush tropical wild of the Far North, the Gondwana rainforest region, the desert plains of the Outback, to the mountains of the Eastern Divide, hilly hinterlands and the many islands (all individually named) of the coastal areas, many of Queensland's key locations are included. The map conveys a real sense of the abundant wilderness and phenomenal nature to be found here, as well as many of the state's townships and city regions.
The iconic Great Dividing Range thread their way across the length of almost the entire map, marking a clear divide between the well forested hinterlands and the Central West region. Queensland's main river systems are all individually marked and the South Western corner contains important deserts and salt lakes. The coastline is studded with accurately labelled island groups, headlands and bays in a true reflection of Queensland's coast. Areas such as Fraser Island, the Glass House Mountains, the Whitsundays, the Torres Strait and important wilderness regions such as the Carnarvon Ranges, the Daintree Forest, the Scenic Rim and the Great Barrier Reef (to name just a few) make this map a real representation of the state.
What Goes Into Your Map
Born out of a love for Australia's mountains, wild places and fantastic nature, these maps are hand drawn with black and red ink in a style reminiscent of Christopher Tolkien. Each design is highly detailed and takes approximately 50 to 60 hours to complete, and are printed in limited numbers. They are perfect for those who want a special art piece to celebrate the uniqueness of their little corner of the world.
I hope you enjoy the intricate style and penmanship of these maps. As these are hand drawn they do contain imperfections and variations, but that is part of their charm, and sets them apart from mass produced and computer generated prints.
Fine Art Grade Paper Quality
Your fine-art print is made on an acid-free 270gsm matte parchment and feels fantastically heavy and sturdy when handled; the best way to describe it is like card with a tactile feel that still has a bend to it. Detailing remains extremely sharp and colours are vivid thanks to the use of 9 colour pigment inks and industry standard paper quality when it comes to fine-art printing. You have the option to choose between two background colours; the Original, which is a soft white and has some subtle texturing, or Antique, which is printed on the same paper but contains an aged-look reminiscent of an antique map.
